Exif Data Remover is an essential tool for professional XenForo boards to protect their users. Exif Data Remover is an essential tool for professional XenForo boards to protect their users. Nowadays with GPS connected smartphones used to shoot photos, most pictures include hidden meta data (called "Exif" for "Exchangeable Image File Format") with information about the exact location where the photo was made (beside of other information). Many people do not even know that each uploaded photo made with their smartphone will give all people viewing the photo easy access to their real location!
Responsible web site owners therefore delete all such hidden data in all uploaded images automatically. This is exactly the purpose of our add-on. But there is even more.
This add-on reliably deletes all hidden information in all uploaded attachments, thus making your web site an secure environment for your users. Nobody can stalk your users any more! We support attachments to posts and conversations as well as images uploaded into the XenForo Media Gallery (XFMG) and the Showcase add-on. All other add-ons using the default XenForo attachment system will also be covered automatically. In case a users uploads a photo made by himself as an avatar, any hidden meta location data will also be removed.
To show your users that you care about them an optional hint, that hidden meta data will be removed from a picture, can be shown in the uploader (see screenshot).
We do not only remove the hidden data from uploaded pictures but also (optionally) store them separately in case you need it in the future (e.g. to rebuild any cache in XFMG). Some photo web sites make legitimate use of meta data hidden in attached pictures. XFMG features an exif rebuild feature which is fully compatible with our add-on.
If you want to take a look at the removed meta data, there is a new feature in the attachment browser in XF Admin Control Panel (ACP) to view the separately stored EXIF information of each attachment (only if the option to store EXIF data is enabled).
The options of our add-on allows to disable the security hint for uploaders, to disable the EXIF data cache and to delete all EXIF data already stored.

Sorry, this add-on cannot be installed at Xenforo 1.1.x or smaller.
